Description:
Dnsmasq is a lightweight, easy to configure DNS forwarder and DHCP server. It is designed to provide DNS and, optionally, DHCP, to a small network. It can serve the names of local machines which are not in the global DNS. The DHCP server integrates with the DNS server and allows machines with DHCP-allocated addresses to appear in the DNS with names configured either in each host or in a central configuration file. Dnsmasq supports static and dynamic DHCP leases and BOOTP/TFTP/PXE for network booting of diskless machines. Dnsmasq is targeted at home networks using NAT and connected to the internet via a modem, cable-modem or ADSL connection but would be a good choice for any smallish network (up to 1000 clients is known to work) where low resource use and ease of configuration are important. -- Simon Kelley

dns/dnsmasq-devel: update to rc5

CHANGELOG diff vs. rc3:

Optimise reading large numbers of --server options. When re-reading
upstream servers from /etc/resolv.conf or other sources that
can change dnsmasq tries to avoid memory fragmentation by re-using
existing records that are being re-read unchanged. This involves
seaching all the server records for each new one installed.
During startup this search is pointless, and can cause long
start times with thousands of --server options because the work
needed is O(n^2). Handle this case more intelligently.
Thanks to Ye Zhou for spotting the problem and an initial patch.

If we detect that a DNS reply from upstream is malformed don't
return it to the requestor; send a SEVFAIL rcode instead.

Add WWW entries to port Makefiles

It has been common practice to have one or more URLs at the end of the
ports' pkg-descr files, one per line and prefixed with "WWW:". These
URLs should point at a project website or other relevant resources.

Access to these URLs required processing of the pkg-descr files, and
they have often become stale over time. If more than one such URL was
present in a pkg-descr file, only the first one was tarnsfered into
the port INDEX, but for many ports only the last line did contain the
port specific URL to further information.

There have been several proposals to make a project URL available as
a macro in the ports' Makefiles, over time.

CHANGELOG difference in Git between test8 and test9

* Enhance --domain to accept, for instance,
--domain=net2.thekelleys.org.uk,eth2 so that hosts get a domain
which relects the interface they are attached to in a way which
doesn't require hard-coding addresses. Thanks to Sten Spans for
  the idea.

* Fix write-after-free error in DHCPv6 server code.
  CVE-2022-0934 refers.

* Add the ability to specify destination port in
DHCP-relay mode. This change also removes a previous bug

dns/dnsmasq-devel: update to v2.87test8

new CHANGELOG entries since test7:

- Fix problem with binding DHCP sockets to an individual interface.
Despite the fact that the system call tales the interface _name_ as a
parameter, it actually, binds the socket to interface _index_.
Deleting the interface and creating a new one with the same name
leaves the socket bound to the old index. (Creating new sockets always
allocates a fresh index, they are not reused). We now take this
behaviour into account and keep up with changing indexes.

- Add --conf-script configuration option.

Update to release candidate #1.

Changes since test#13:
+ Move the dhcp_release and dhcp_lease_time tools from
+ contrib/wrt to contrib/lease-tools.
+
+ Add dhcp_release6 to contrib/lease-tools. Many thanks
+ to Sergey Nechaev for this code.
+
+ To avoid filling logs in configurations which define
+ many upstream nameservers, don't log more that 30 servers.
+ The number to be logged can be changed as SERVERS_LOGGED
+ in src/config.h.

Update to new upstream test release ...test13.

Upstream's CHANGELOG since test12:
* Check return-code of inet_pton() when parsing dhcp-option.  Bad
addresses could fail to generate errors and result in garbage
dhcp-options being sent. Thanks to Marc Branchaud for spotting this.

* Fix wrong value for EDNS UDP packet size when using --servers-file to
define upstream DNS servers. Thanks to Scott Bonar for the bug report.

Upgrade to upstream -test8 pre-release.

Changes per diff of the CHANGELOG file:

Fix wrong answer to simple name query when --domain-needed set, but no
upstream servers configured. Dnsmasq returned REFUSED, in this case,
when it should be the same as when upstream servers are configured -
NOERROR. Thanks to Allain Legacy for spotting the problem.

Return REFUSED when running out of forwarding table slots, not SERVFAIL.

Add --max-port configuration. Thanks to Hans Dedecker for the patch.

Add --script-arp and two new functions for the dhcp-script. These are
"arp" and "arp-old" which announce the arrival and removal of entries
in the ARP or nieghbour tables.

Extend --add-mac to allow a new encoding of the MAC address as base64,
  by configurting --add-mac=base64

  Add --add-cpe-id option.

Update to new upstream release candidate 2.74rc1.

To fix three regressions in 2.73:

1) The meaning of --conf-file without an argument changed from "don't
read any conf-file" to "read the default conf-file"

2) A resolv-file which was dangling symlink at startup causes
problems, up to and including a segmentation fault.

3) Under some circumstances, dnsmasq can use more file descriptors,
and this shows up that the code doesn't handle the limit (normally
1024) in the number of descriptors handled by the select() system call.

Update to new 2.73test6 pre-release

Changes since test3, from CHANGELOG file:

Add --log-queries=extra option, which makes logs easier
           to search automatically.

Add --min-cache-ttl option. I've resisted this for a long
time, on the grounds that disbelieving TTLs is never a
good idea, but I've been persuaded that there are
sometimes reasons to do it. (Step forward, GFW).
To avoid misuse, there's a hard limit on the TTL
floor of one hour. Thansk to RinSatsuki for the patch.

Cope with multiple interfaces with the same link-local
address. (IPv6 addresses are scoped, so this is allowed.)
Thanks to Cory Benfield for help with this.

Add --dhcp-hostsdir. This allows addition of new host
configurations to a running dnsmasq instance much more
cheaply than having dnsmasq re-read all its existing
           configuration each time.
