- Description:
- vmware-guestd daemon is for time synchronization with host OS and others.
Beware, this port is for FreeBSD _guest_ OS. You don't need to install
this ports to FreeBSD _host_ OS. This ports also installs a kernel modules
for FreeBSD guest.
If you want to run FreeBSD as a VMware guest OS, install this port
would help you. If you want to run X, install vmware-tools too.
This port assumes that a) users want only "must-have" binaries and
b) guest OS runs on a certain architecture and never be changed. For
those want full-feature of VMware Tools, use the installer bundled with
VMware Tools instead.

In the rc.d scripts, change assignments to rcvar to use the
literal name_enable wherever possible, and ${name}_enable
when it's not, to prepare for the demise of set_rcvar().
In cases where I had to hand-edit unusual instances also
modify formatting slightly to be more uniform (and in
some cases, correct). This includes adding some $FreeBSD$
tags, and most importantly moving rcvar= to right after
name= so it's clear that one is derived from the other. |

Fix for FreeBSD/amd64; there is no Tcl version of VMware toolbox.
I haven't received any responces yet from PR originator for one month,
but I assume that it would be a sign of ok.
I know PORTREVISION bump should be happen, but ignored since upcoming
version 6.0.3 commit will follow very soon.

More fix on X modules.
The X server modules (display driver and mouse driver) bundled with
VMware Tools doesn't work with X.Org 7.2 server. So install these
modules if and only if X is actually XFree86 4.x.
Also fix pkg-plist (sorry the last commit makes plist broken.)
Bump vmware-tools6 PORTREVISION to note the changes above.
For X.Org 7.2 users:
x11-drivers/xf86-video-vmware is the video driver for VMs, that
is installed by default.
x11-drivers/xf86-input-vmmouse is the mouse driver for VMs.
However, it doesn't need if vmware-toolbox runs. |

Introducing VMware Tools for VMware Workstation 6 beta 3.
As usual, all three ports are updated after repocoping from
version 5 ports (this is why this ports is 'committed,' not 'imported.')
Note to 7-current users: vmware-guestd and other binaries requires
libc.so.6 to work. Since there is no misc/compat6x yet, this ports
is marked as 'IGNORE' if there is no libc.so.6. |
