- Description:
- HFS is the "Hierarchical File System" used on modern Macintosh computers.
With this package, you can read and write Macintosh-formatted media such as
floppy disks, CD-ROMs, and SCSI hard disks on most Unix platforms. You can
also format raw media or file into an HFS volume.
This package contains a number of different tools:
- Several command-line programs (hmount, hls, hcopy, et al.)
- Tk-based front-end for browsing and copying files through a
variety of transfer modes (MacBinary, BinHex, text, etc.)
- Tcl package and interface for scriptable access to volumes
- C library for low-level access to volumes
Support for Apple's new Extended Format (HFS+) is currently not available.

filesystems: add new category for file systems and related utilities
The filesystems category houses file systems and file system utilities.
It is added mainly to turn the sysutils/fusefs-* pseudo-category into
a proper one, but is also useful for the sundry of other file systems
related ports found in the tree.
Ports that seem like they belong there are moved to the new category.
Two ports, sysutils/fusefs-funionfs and sysutils/fusefs-fusepak are
not moved as they currently don't fetch and don't have TIMESTAMP set
in their distinfo, but that is required to be able to push a rename
of the port by the pre-receive hook.

Remove WWW entries moved into port Makefiles
Commit b7f05445c00f has added WWW entries to port Makefiles based on
WWW: lines in pkg-descr files.
This commit removes the WWW: lines of moved-over URLs from these
pkg-descr files.

Add WWW entries to port Makefiles
It has been common practice to have one or more URLs at the end of the
ports' pkg-descr files, one per line and prefixed with "WWW:". These
URLs should point at a project website or other relevant resources.
Access to these URLs required processing of the pkg-descr files, and
they have often become stale over time. If more than one such URL was
present in a pkg-descr file, only the first one was tarnsfered into
the port INDEX, but for many ports only the last line did contain the
port specific URL to further information.
There have been several proposals to make a project URL available as
a macro in the ports' Makefiles, over time.

*/*: Remove redundant '-[0-9]*' from CONFLICTS
The conflict checks compare the patterns first against the package
names without version (as reported by "pkg query "%n"), then - if
there was no match - agsinst the full package names including the
version (as reported by "pkg query "%n-%v").
Many CONFLICTS definitions used patterns like "bash-[0-9]*" to filter
for the bash package in any version. But that pattern is functionally
identical with just "bash".

There is a bug (misfeature?) in our make(1) with certain Makefiles, when the
build breaks once -jX is passed (with any X), e.g. for this port:
cc ck_mdb.o ck_volume.o ck_btree.o hfsck.o util.o main.o ../suid.o
../version.o -L../libhfs -lhfs -o hfsck
cc: ../suid.o: No such file or directory
cc: ../version.o: No such file or directory

===> Compilation failed unexpectedly.
Reluctantly force GNU make(1) for the time being with corresponding comment. |
