This simple Django utility allows you to utilize the 12factor inspired
DATABASE_URL environment variable to configure your Django application.
The dj_database_url.config method returns a Django database connection
dictionary, populated with all the data specified in your URL. There is
also a conn_max_age argument to easily enable Django's connection pool.
If you'd rather not use an environment variable, you can pass a URL in
directly instead to dj_database_url.parse.
Supported Databases:
Support currently exists for PostgreSQL, PostGIS, MySQL, MySQL (GIS),
Oracle, Oracle (GIS), and SQLite.
NOTE: If this package has multiple flavors (see below), then use one of them instead of the name specified above. NOTE: This is a Python port. Instead of py312-dj-database-url listed in the above command, you can pick from the names under the Packages section.
*: Switch consumers over to Django 5.2
Django 4.2 reached its End-of-Life on 7th April 2026 and Django 5.2 is
the new LTS (= Long Term Support) release which will be supported until
April 2028.
* Switch most ports that use www/py-django42 to www/py-django52.
* Where necessary, remove PORTSCOUT, which is no longer needed because
an update to a newer version that no longer supports Django 4.2 should
now be possible.
* Bump PORTREVISION due dependency change where necessary.

ASCII'ze port descriptions which were (ab)using UTF-8 punctuation
While here, run these files through a spell-checker and wrap some
overly long lines and/or dangling prepositions (when appropriate).
Remove WWW entries moved into port Makefiles
Commit b7f05445c00f has added WWW entries to port Makefiles based on
WWW: lines in pkg-descr files.
This commit removes the WWW: lines of moved-over URLs from these
pkg-descr files.

Add WWW entries to port Makefiles
It has been common practice to have one or more URLs at the end of the
ports' pkg-descr files, one per line and prefixed with "WWW:". These
URLs should point at a project website or other relevant resources.
Access to these URLs required processing of the pkg-descr files, and
they have often become stale over time. If more than one such URL was
present in a pkg-descr file, only the first one was tarnsfered into
the port INDEX, but for many ports only the last line did contain the
port specific URL to further information.
There have been several proposals to make a project URL available as
a macro in the ports' Makefiles, over time.
