AdGuard Home is a network-wide software for blocking ads & tracking. After you
set it up, it'll cover ALL your home devices, and you don't need any client-side
software for that. With the rise of Internet-Of-Things and connected devices, it
becomes more and more important to be able to control your whole network.
You installed AdGuardHome: Network-wide ads & trackers blocking DNS server.
AdGuardHome is configured to run as the 'unbound' user. By default,
non-root users cannot bind to privileged ports like 53 (DNS).
To allow AdGuardHome to function, choose one of the following options:
OPTION A: Using the 'portacl' service (Recommended for simplicity)
1. Install the portacl package:
# pkg install portacl
2. Add these lines to /etc/rc.conf:
portacl_enable="YES"
portacl_users="unbound"
portacl_user_unbound_tcp="domain 853"
portacl_user_unbound_udp="domain"
3. Start the service to apply rules immediately:
# service portacl start
---
OPTION B: Manual Configuration (Base system only)
1. Load the required kernel module:
# kldload mac_portacl
2. Apply the following sysctl rules (replace 59 with 'id -u unbound' if different):
# sysctl net.inet.ip.portrange.reservedhigh=0
# sysctl security.mac.portacl.port_high=1024
# sysctl security.mac.portacl.rules=uid:59:tcp:53,uid:59:udp:53,uid:59:tcp:853
3. To make this persistent, add mac_portacl_load="YES" to /boot/loader.conf
and the sysctl rules to /etc/sysctl.conf.
---
FINAL STEPS:
Enable and start AdGuardHome:
# sysrc adguardhome_enable="YES"
# service adguardhome start
Then complete the setup via the web interface at http://localhost:3000/
many: Unpin Go ports
* Ports that were pinned to a deprecated version of Go (1.23 or older)
have been unpinned.
* Ports that were pinned to a still-supported version of Go (1.24 or
newer) have been converted to requesting that as their minimum Go
version.
* Ports that had been forcibly deprecated for pinning an expired Go
version have been undeprecated.
go: Bump go124-dependent ports
Earlier I bumped the default Go to 1.24. Ports that specify a lower
version will still build with those lower version (for now), so they
don't need a bumping. Instead I'm bumping anything that (now) has go124
as a dependency.
www/adguardhome: Move config and data files to a new location

Remove WWW entries moved into port Makefiles
Commit b7f05445c00f has added WWW entries to port Makefiles based on
WWW: lines in pkg-descr files.
This commit removes the WWW: lines of moved-over URLs from these
pkg-descr files.

Add WWW entries to port Makefiles
It has been common practice to have one or more URLs at the end of the
ports' pkg-descr files, one per line and prefixed with "WWW:". These
URLs should point at a project website or other relevant resources.
Access to these URLs required processing of the pkg-descr files, and
they have often become stale over time. If more than one such URL was
present in a pkg-descr file, only the first one was tarnsfered into
the port INDEX, but for many ports only the last line did contain the
port specific URL to further information.
There have been several proposals to make a project URL available as
a macro in the ports' Makefiles, over time.
